Nancy: a man is robbed of several thousand euros using a very particular technique

Specialists in cybersecurity, two thieves managed to extract more than 4,000 euros on his bank account until they are arrested Thursday June 27 by the police.

An iPhone 13 and more than 4,000 euros stolen

On the night of Friday March 8 to Saturday March 9, while he was in a nightclub on rue Saint-Julien in Nancy, a man had his phone stolen, “an iPhone 13”, specifies the national police.

After filing a complaint the next day, the victim noticed movements in his bank account. More than 4,000 euros are taken from him “, the police said.

The investigation was entrusted to the property crime squad. On March 13 and April 8, two individuals are arrested and placed in police custody. If they deny the facts and are then released, the police manage to find evidence and banking information.

A scam undetectable by the victim’s bank

The police are continuing their investigations with services specializing in cybercrime. Their research confirms that the two suspects are behind the theft and the fraud.

With the help of a computer program, The two men, born in 2004 and 2005, managed to fraudulently access the victim’s bank account. “They pretended to be the victim to make transfers without the bank being able to realize it,” added the police.

Arrested this Thursday and placed in police custody again, they will be presented on November 6, 2024 in summons by a judicial police officer for: simple theft, receiving stolen goods, fraud, possession of a program to fraudulently access an automated data processing system and possession without legitimate reason of equipment or instruments affecting the data of a computer program.
