Gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected in Dordogne this Thursday afternoon. The department is placed on yellow alert for wind and rain and flooding.. Strong gusts of wind caused power outages and led to falling trees on several roads in the department. The firefighters intervened for electrical wires fallen on the road, notably in Nontron and in Sanilhac for the fall of a high-voltage cable, in Cubjac for an optical fiber cable.
In anticipation of these weather conditions, SNCF suspended traffic between Limoges and Périgueux all day.
13,500 customers without electricity at the start of the afternoon
Several municipalities are reporting power cuts. Enedis indicates that it recorded 13,500 homes without electricity in Dordogne this Thursday at the start of the afternoon and this number is expected to increase. 80 technicians are mobilized. The cuts are taking place throughout the department. This is particularly the case in Carsac-Aillac, and in Molières in Périgord Noir. The entire village was without power from 10 a.m., but electricity is gradually returning. According to the mayor, Alexandre Lacoste, at midday, half of the town was still without power.
In Sanilhac, there are also power cuts in the Breuilh and Marsaneix sectors and in the town of the commune.
Trees and wires fell on the roads
An oak tree fell on the D41 road between Échourgnac and Saint-Aulaye, the department's teams left on site this Thursday afternoon and the road was closed to traffic during the intervention.
To Sanilhacthree trees fell on the roads and they were cleared by technical services.
In Périgord Noir, a tree fell on the D47 between Sarlat and Les Eyzies. The tree which has many branches cuts half of the road.
In Castels, a tree fell on the D703.
In Nadaillac, a tree blocks traffic in Pech Buffetat the intersection of the Route du Lac Sargou and the Route des Châtaigniers.
At Carsac-Aillacseveral sectors are affected by falling trees on the Béton plant and the Quercy road. The road workers are in the area to clear the road.
