Météo- confirms the weather forecasts and maintains the placement of the Orne department on ORANGE meteorological vigilance for the “ice snow” phenomenon for the entire day tomorrow, Thursday November 21, 2024, from the early hours of the morning. The movement of the CAETANO depression towards the east will strongly affect the entire department from 8:00 a.m. and could cause snowfall of around 5 to 10 centimeters.

Consequently, the prefect of Orne has adopted the following provisions in coordination with the zone prefect and the neighboring departments:

  • The circulation of school transport in Orne is prohibited by prefectural decree, in consultation with the Regional Council
  • The circulation of heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes is prohibited on the entire road network of the Orne department, from 7:00 a.m. tomorrow and until further notice

At this stage, traffic on national roads (A28, A88 and N12) remains authorized. The maximum authorized speed for heavy goods vehicles is lowered by 20 km/hour.

The prefect of Orne will bring together the security and emergency forces and public services involved in the management of the event in a crisis unit from 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at the prefecture (departmental operational center – COD) in order to monitor the event and take the necessary measures.

  • Under no circumstances touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground;
  • It is essential to install generators outside buildings.
