A new dimension, technical and human perspectives, and big progress for health. In Montorodat, in Lozère, the functional rehabilitation SMR has just acquired an exoskeleton. The government hopes to deploy two per department. The Montrodat center chose theexoskeleton proposed by Wandercraft. For patients, indicates the management of the center, the objective is very clear: to improve functional walking abilities, psychological impact and quality of life.
Since its installation last June, 12 patients benefited from the exoskeleton. Currently, 4 patients are using it. Florence, 50, who suffers from a degenerative disease, trains to walk twice a week using this revolutionary equipment. “I come twice a week and I fully feel the effects. My body is learning to walk correctly again and to put your foot down appropriately”she explains.
The exoskeleton is not a simple gadget, it is a real tool for the rehabilitation center explains Valentin Roche who supervises the service which uses the exoskeleton: It is a significant technological advance. In Lozère, we have every interest in having the same systems as elsewhere. This brings real added value to rehabilitation. The exoskeleton is an additional tool to support patients in their rehabilitation and allow them to walk. The objective is not don't give false hope by suggesting that a person unable to walk again will be able to do so, but rather to speed up the process of learning to walk again or to help regain activities in a standing position. »
The establishment has a capacity of 45 patients in full hospitalization and 17 day hospitalization places.
