Don’t have Circle to search? Here are 5 tips for using Google Lens

Google Lens identifies everything you see through the camera in real time, whether it’s QR codes, clothing, plants, devices, animals, or text in a foreign language. Google Lens is available on many devices such as phones and tablets with Androidem, iPhones, and iPads. Here are 5 tips for using this popular app if your device doesn’t have Circle to Search, which is built on Lens but certainly works more intuitively.

The Google Lens app is the most direct way to access the image recognition tool. This is the recommended approach for devices with Androidem and Apple.

  • Download and open the Google Lens app from the Play Store.
  • Allow the app to use your phone’s camera.
  • To use “live” search, tap at the top camera icon.
  • If you want to use Lens with a saved photo, tap at the bottom left image icon.
  • Select the image you want to use with the application.

How to use Google Lens in Google Photos

Google Photos is the default photo app on most Android devices (not for Galaxy phones) and has Google Lens built into it. You can access it like this:

How to use Google Lens in the Google app

Another good way to access Google Lens is to use the Google app. This app comes pre-installed on most android devices, iPhone or iPad owners need to download it from the App Store.

  • Open the Google app from your home screen or app drawer.
  • Click on the Google Lens icon on the right side of the search box.

This method is the same as the standalone Google Lens app, but does not require a download.

How to use Google Lens in the camera app (only for devices with Androidem 13 years and older)

Until recently, Google Lens was enabled by default in the Camera app on most Android devices. Unfortunately, Google, for some unknown reason, removed it from Android 14. So the following procedure only applies to devices with Android 13 and up.

  • Open the camera app.
  • In the lower left corner, tap Google Lens icon.
  • If you don’t see the icon here, press the “Next” and select it from here.
  • Point your phone’s camera at something you want to search for.

How to use Google Lens via Assistant

The final way to use Google Lens is to use Google Assistant.

  • Activate the Assistant by long-pressing the Home button or saying “Hi Google” .
  • Dire “Use Google Lens» or in the lower right corner, tap keyboard icon and enter the same command.
