The events took place around 3 a.m. in Froidos (Meuse), L'Est Républicain reports that chain explosions woke up the residents. These detonations were caused by a car garage fire located on the road to Bar-le-Duc.
Burning acetylene cans and a strong wind amplified the dangerousness of this impressive fire.
Intervention of firefighters and Enedis
The emergency services arrived when the 1,000 m² of the building was already completely engulfed in flames. THE firefighterscoming from several centers in the department (Clermont, Verdun, Bar-le-Duc, among others), focused on protecting the partially damaged terraced house.
Enedis cut off the electricity supply to the entire town to avoid additional risks, while the gendarmes marked a diversion on this busy route. By 7:30 a.m. the fire was under control.but the road remained closed, and electricity had not yet been restored.
No injuries
Despite the severity of the fire, no injuries were reported. The Clermont-en-Argonne gendarmes opened a investigation to determine the causes of the disaster.
