The skipper of Nexans-Wewise, Fabrice Amedeo, noticed a problem with the keel of his boat. The 34th in the ranking will try to find a solution to continue his Vendée Globe.

The bad news of the day is for Fabrice Amedeo in the Vendée Globe. The skipper of Nexans-Wewise suffered damage aboard his Imoca. At the 11 a.m. check-in, he was at the back of the pack, west of Cape Verde.

“Fabrice Amedeo, currently in 34th position, has been sailing safely at reduced speed since yesterday evening after noticing a problem with his keel. He is currently looking for a solution to calmly continue his Vendée Globe”indicates this Wednesday morning the race website, which promises
“more information during the day” on the situation in Mayennais.

The third Vendée Globe for Amedeo

Former journalist, Fabrice Amedeo, 46, is currently competing in his third Vendée Globe. Finishing 11th in 2016-2017, after a little less than 104 days of racing, the native of Chateau-Gontier was then forced to abandon the last edition, victim of a total computer failure. Fabrice Amedeo experienced his biggest damage in 2022 on the Route du Rhum, when his previous boat, Nexans- & Windows, was wrecked following an explosion on board.
