The French rugby team concludes its autumn tour with the reception of Argentina this Friday. Fabien Galthié revealed his team composition without Grégory Alldritt.
Fabien Galthié very quickly brushed aside any controversy surrounding the Grégory Alldritt case. One of the captains of the French XV was ruled out for the Blues' last test match against Argentina this Friday (9:10 p.m.). “These are choices shared internally. There is no controversy around that,” clarified the French coach.
This is a surprise since the La Rochelle number eight is often one of the first names that Fabien Galthié checks in his team composition. Of the 54 matches managed by the coach of the XV of France, the Stade Rochelais player played 40, including 39 as a starter.
“An exemplary player”
Matthieu Jalibert, already absent against the Blacks, is still not in the starting lineup. “There is no controversy around Jalibert either. He needed to regenerate, we discuss with him. I find it a shame the amalgamation of comments made in the direction of a match”, reacted Fabien Galthié in press conference.
The former Stade Français coach is also already thinking about the future and the future tournaments that will present themselves to the French XV: “There is a vision with a tournament in 2025 and a trip to Ireland, with a trip to England but also for 2027.”
Fabien Galthié concluded on the Alldritt subject by recalling that he was “a captain, a leader and an exemplary player that all the players want to follow”. These statements seem to rule out any semblance of tension around this choice of the French coach for this last match of the French XV in 2024.
