The weather conditions of recent months have been marked by significant amounts of precipitation throughout the department. These exceptional conditions have made it very difficult for farmers to comply with certain provisions of the National Nitrates Action Program (PAN) or the Regional Nitrates Action Program (PAR), in particular those relating to the minimum periods prohibiting the spreading of nitrates. nitrogen fertilizers.

At the request of representatives of the agricultural world and after consultation with the departmental council for the environment and health and technological risks, the prefect of Gironde, Étienne GUYOT, authorizes, by derogation, the spreading of organic effluents (nitrogen fertilizers from type II) until December 31, 2024.

This authorization mainly concerns main crops on meadows and, secondarily, exported intercrop plant covers or catch crops. The maximum volumes of useful nitrogen that can be spread per year remain unchanged, as do all the requirements relating to these operations.

Farmers wishing to benefit from this exemption must send, electronically to the agriculture, forestry and rural development service of the Gironde departmental direction of territories and sea ([email protected]), the document annexed to the prefectural decree, which will make it possible to specify the municipality and the islands concerned, as well as the surface areas of these islands and the volumes spread.
