During questions to the government this Tuesday, the RN deputy for Drôme Thibaut Monnier returned to the death of Thomas, killed in Crépol on November 19, 2023. The elected official notably asked the Minister of Justice Didier Migaud to strengthen “the judicial apparatus” of the State.
“When will you finally act?” It was with a firm tone that the deputy for Drôme Thibaut Monnier challenged Didier Migaud, the Minister of Justice this Tuesday during questions to the government.
The elected representative of the National Rally paid tribute to Thomas, a 16-year-old young man, murdered on November 19, 2023 during a ball in Crépol (Drôme). “A year ago today, the Drôme became a land martyred by savagery and the laxity of the State,” he said in the Hemicycle.
“The death of Thomas has aggravated a community divide and anti-French hatred,” added the parliamentarian, before asking the minister when the executive planned to “initiate the rearmament of its judicial and prison apparatus to protect the lives of the French” .
“A dramatic event”
In response to Thibaut Monnier's comments, Didier Migaud initially paid tribute to young Thomas, referring to a “dramatic event”.
The minister also wanted to recall that “the principle of independence of justice” prevented him from “commenting” on the current case. However, he recognized the need to “review parts of juvenile justice to reduce the minority excuse”.
