A specialty widely practiced in the Landes, the paleta gum championship – a hollow ball commonly called baline – will crown its champions this Saturday, November 23, on the cancha of the pelota complex at the Colette-Besson stadium in Dax. Protected by a glass wall, it will allow spectators, gathered in the 250-seat stands, to appreciate the precise movements of the pelotaris.
Three finals are on the program from 3 p.m.
Committee Challenge
Two Dacquois clubs are in the final. Moreover, of the six finalist teams for Saturday's meeting, three are from Dacquoises.
Pettan Aphaule and César Baudouin, from ASPTT Pelote, will face the new pelota club of the spa town, the Friends of the trinquet des Charmilles and its representatives, Laurent Bourdenx and Paco Laussucq.
In the semi-final the ASPTT dominated Bélus (Nicolas Larbey and Aymerix Etcheverria), 15/8, 15/8. The Chatmillots dismissed Saint-Martin-de-Hinx (Damien Dartiguenave and Fabien Domengé), 15/8, 15/11.
Landes Cup
A club very present in all specialties, Sorde-l'Abbaye will be represented by two remarkable competitors, Olivier and Benoît Chièze, clear winners in the semi-final of Labenne, with Patrice Corrihons and Jean Voisin (15/8, 15/5).
The other place was won by Biaudos (Cyrille Laborde and Thomas Etchebarne), who battled for a long time against the diehard “Hastingots” Pierre Sorçaburu and Thomas Holgado (15/11, 8/15, 10/4).
Landes Championship
Summit meeting between AS Hossegor and US Dax.
By combining the precision of Michaël Chenet and the converted puntist Julien Moresmau, Hossegor has found the right formula. His victories since the start of the championship bear witness to this, with a masterstroke in the semi-final against Tyrosse (Kévin Hitin and Nicolac Wanner), 15/13, 15/6.
The US Dax is banking on the mastery of Stéphane Dibois and Jean-Baptiste Duprat who disposed of the other Tyrolean pair Léo Pardies – Axel Moulins, 15/8, 15-10.
