A 19-year-old teenager was shot and killed in the center of Rumilly, in Haute-Savoie, this Sunday, November 17 in the afternoon. Another young man, aged 20, is still in hospital, in worrying condition, after being hit in the head by a projectile while he was at Place d'Armes.
According to the prosecution, several individuals from Annecy came into contact with a group of people from Rumilly. “A fight broke out between them“, without the reason being known, specifies the press release.
“One of the people who arrived in the vehicle […]fell to the ground and was hit by members of the group present on the square. She carried a handgun and fired at least twice“, specifies the prosecution.
In Rumilly, the emotion is high two days after the events and incomprehension predominates for the family and loved ones of the victim. They went there this Monday, November 18 to pay tribute to him. Flowers were placed against a barrier at the scene of the tragedy.
The victim worked with relatives at a downtown restaurant. His father, Azzedine Yahya testifies with emotion on the microphone of France 2: “Rumilly is quiet, it's a small town that is clean, I'm a football instructor here. Why is that? he asks himself with tears in his voice. They come from there, he said, pointing his hand outwards, to do that, violence. They killed my son who was 19 years old.”
For his friends too, it’s a shock: “We never separated, he was my family, he was my brother, that was everything. He was ready to do anything for his loved ones and everyone he loved. He was ready to provide services. He wasn't a violent man, everyone liked him.” His relatives refute any link with a settling of scores.
It has nothing to do with drugs and all that. He was an honest and upright guy.
Others let their anger explode: “It's unacceptable for a man to come in the middle of the afternoon with a gun to the heart of the city and shoot like that. Why hasn't he been arrested yet?” asks another friend.
An investigation was opened into the charges of murder and attempted murder, entrusted to the Chambéry research section. The individuals are still being sought.
According to the Annecy public prosecutor's office, “the murder would follow a first brawl that occurred on the night of November 16 to 17, 2024 around one o'clock in the morning on the night of November 16 to 17, 2024 in Annecy“.
