A man armed with a knife tried to kill a public highway surveillance officer (ASVP) this Tuesday morning, in the premises of the municipal police of La Mée-sur-Seine, near Melun (Seine-et-Marne ). The individual was subdued and arrested on site by municipal police officers. An investigation into attempted homicide of a person holding public authority has been opened, said the Melun public prosecutor's office.
An attack on the premises of the municipal police
The events took place late in the morning in the premises located on Avenue Maurice-Dauvergne. According to a source close to the investigation at Actu17, the suspect entered the municipal police station before showing a knife and attacking an officer. The man allegedly put the blade to his victim's throat and tried to lead her to another building.
It was the intervention of municipal police officers, returning to the station at that precise moment, which made it possible to control the attacker. The victim, although deeply shocked, was not injured.
Police custody lifted for psychiatric reasons
The suspect was immediately taken into custody. However, this measure was lifted after a psychiatric examination concluding in the abolition of his discernment, specified the public prosecutor of Melun, Jean-Michel Bourles. The man will be subject to compulsory hospitalization.
Investigations are entrusted to the Melun-Val de Seine police station to clarify the exact circumstances of this attack.
