In France, football is the most practiced team sport. Last year, there were around 2.1 million licensees in France, including amateur and professional players. To find out more about this success by department, we consulted recent figures from INSEE, covering the 2022/2023 season. In Essonne, there were just 300 football licenses per 10,000 inhabitants. A rather average rate. During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the French team shone with a silver medal. It remains to be seen whether this performance will translate into a wave of membership in the clubs.
