The main suspect in the murder of a man, stabbed to death, rue Papu, in Rennes, Tuesday November 12, 2024, was arrested in Paris, we learned this Monday, November 18, from police sources, confirming information from Ouest-France. He is a national of Mayotte, aged 28, and has a criminal record with four entries, including two convictions for drug-related offences.
Judicial investigation opened for murder
The latter was arrested on Saturday November 16 at Roissy-Charles-de Gaulle airport, while he was trying to take a flight to Mayotte, Rennes public prosecutor Frédéric Teillet confirmed this Monday evening.
Initially placed in police custody, the individual was presented this Monday to the Rennes public prosecutor's office who opened a judicial investigation for murder before he was indicted by an investigating judge. He has since been remanded in custody. This man also admitted to the investigating judge that he had a dispute with the victim linked to drug trafficking and that he had stabbed him, although without intending to kill him.
Tuesday November 12, 2024, the victim, a 49-year-old man, was stabbed to death in front of the “Habitat et Humanisme” residence, located at 54, rue Papu, in the Bourg-l’Évesque district.
