And new business has just opened its doors, rue Joffre, in Binic (Côtes-d’Armor). “Pointe de Sel”, that’s its name, is both a boutique and one leather goods manufacturing workshop.

Created by Laurianne Chedeville and her companion Corentin Gallard, the name of the place is inspired by the handmade technique of “saddler stitch”.

Leather bags and belts

Originally from Rennes, living in Lanloup, with a BTS and a “quality” degree, Laurianne Chedeville had the spark after a 5-year career in health and social medicine.

At that time, I spent my free time making, for myself, by watching tutorials, small bags, leather belts. I love this material. It is noble and so pleasant to the touch. So I wanted to challenge myself: why not make it my job?

An internship at Longchamp

Neither one nor two, in 2023, Laurianne Chedeville enrolls in CAP leather goods and drops out, after his internship at Longchamp at the beginning of 2024, its examination.

Everything happens very quickly and, as soon as you have your diploma, you have the opportunity to take over the store (formerly Longe-Côte) introduces itself. “Corentin and I jumped at the opportunity,” continues Laurianne Chedeville. We did some painting, rearranged the space and created a glass roof, all in one week! »

We therefore find, at Pointe de Sel, hand bags (including one baptized in the name of Binic), phone casesglasses, pétanque balls or shuffleboards, basket, beltscard holder (all made by hand) as well as creations (ceramic, tide clocks, children’s range, lampshades, etc.) from Breton artisans.

To note that the leathers used come from two tanneries: the Sovos tannery, in the Vosges, which recovers skins in Brittany and Normandy, and the second, in Lyon, Ictyos, which recycles fish skins (salmon and trout) into leather.

Pointe de Sel, 2, market place, Binc-Etables-sur-Mer. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. www.atelierpointedesel.com and [email protected]
