The green light given by the State services concerning the greenway project on the banks of the Lot, between the center of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the Château de Rogé, provoked the indignation of the collective of local residents impacted by this route along the river.
The news was not greeted with a broad smile on the left bank of the Lot. The collective of residents who oppose the route of the greenway along the Lot, between Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Penne-d'Agenais, questions the “sudden” decision of the prefecture of Lot-et-Garonne to give the green light for this track dedicated to soft mobility. Suddenly, because they sent an open letter to the prefect the day before the signing of the declaration of public utility, last week. In this letter, they wanted to bring their “arguments” to those of the project leader, the Greater Villeneuvois agglomeration.

“After having minimized in various ways the costs of the route on the banks of the Lot, and inflating by various artifices the costs of the natural route on the old railway line, the cost of the route on the banks of the Lot is massively underestimated” argue the opponents . “On the one hand, there are the omissions of a particularly incomplete technical file, which only provides for half of the developments necessary to take into account the meanders of the bank. Two major works of art with a probable value of €100,000 each are simply absent from the technical file for the only part concerning the Orchards of Saint-Sulpice.” Buildings are on the route and would have been “forgotten” in the forecasts, particularly financial ones. The agglomeration is putting forward a budget of 1.7 million euros for the route along the Lot compared to more than 2 million via the old railway line (a route which is longer). “Grossly misleading elements” contests the collective.

The opponents are not giving up: this greenway must pass over the railway line. Despite their arguments, listed during the public inquiry which gave a “favorable opinion with reservations” – in particular on the continuation towards Penne-d'Agenais –, the prefect agrees with the Grand Villeneuvois for the option on the banks of the Lot. “A decision unworthy of a prefecture” breathes the collective of local residents. “There is reason to be concerned about the state of our institutions and their administration. » The room for maneuver becomes more restricted for these Villeneuvois, who can refer the matter to the administrative court
