“I’m so glad it’s not raining today! We can Finally meet up to draw outside” rejoices Véronique. She and her friends are sitting on one of the Picnic tables on the banks of the Clain, on the Tison islet in Poitiers. And you had to arrive early this June 25 for find one available. Many Poitevins have had the same idea, and have prepared a picnic. A great sun shines in the sky, and the thermometer is close to 30 degrees.
“I made a salad: tabbouleh, cucumber, tomatoes, corn” says Claudine, retired. She is with around ten of her friends, all members of a patchwork club. They have gathered in the sun to celebrate their last session of the year. To her right, Chantal adds “yes but we must not forget the aperitif, it is very important! Cheese, bread, wine. We don’t give up!” she laughs.
