Cherry trees, pear trees and even apple trees. The residents of Drancy had a choice this weekend. The municipality of Seine-Saint-Denis organized a first distribution of fruit trees. The nine different varieties came from a local nursery. “We have ornamental trees but this is the first fruit tree we are going to plant“, comments for example a resident.
For his part, a resident of Rue des Cerisiers logically left with the tree in question.because there are none on the street“, he tells us. To participate, residents had to reserve their tree online and have a pavilion with a garden.
According to the UDI mayor of Drancy Aude Lagarde, this distribution is a way of greening the city. “The private space is the one that can be most easily planted with trees.“, she believes.
In total, 600 trees were distributed for this second edition. A final one will take place next spring. Once in the ground, the trees should bear their first fruits within a year or two.
