This Monday begins the 28th week to promote the employment of people with disabilities. In France, according to Agefiph, hiring of disabled people represented 4.3% of all hires last year. In Limousin, dedicated temp agencies are starting to emerge.
This is the case for example in Limoges where the agency was created in 2022 Temporary work and Disability. This adapted temporary work company offers missions, like any other temp company, but it also aims to have its temporary workers sign permanent or long-term fixed-term contracts. After two years of existence, the results are positive for Nadine Cahu, the head and manager of Interim and Handicap: “in two years, we signed 15 permanent contracts on Limoges and the urban area. Here is finally a place for, it was a thought very often when people walked through the door. We don't have to ask ourselves, do we say that we have a RQTH or do we not say it…”
80% of invisible disabilities
Even if progress is made, Nadine Cahu still notes a lot of preconceptions and ignorance. “Many people think that disability = wheelchair, but 80% of disabilities are invisible: someone who has diabetes, who has burned out, dys-problems. Of course there are physical disabilities, but not that.”
In New Aquitaine, according to Agefiph, the hiring of disabled people, who represent 5.8% of all hirings, has decreased by 7% in one year (-4% for all populations). Nearly 22,000 disabled job seekers found employment in 2023.
