The head of mission met the heads of civil and military services, traditional leaders and the population. The mayor of the town of Kélo, Bessingar Bazo, expressed to the delegation his appreciation for the work of the Tandjilé-Ouest Forest and Wildlife Guard team.
He asked the DG to provide substantial resources to help agents do their work better. Bokit Adam Djare stressed that environmental protection is everyone’s business. He called on traditional leaders and the population of Tandjilé to get actively involved in stopping the advance of the desert.
Addressing the forest officials, the Director General asked them to work for the country, and not for their personal interest. He formally prohibited the occupation of large spaces exceeding 5 hectares for fields.
Closing these meetings, the secretary general of the Tandjilé-Ouest department, Ali Abakar Issa, stressed that protecting the environment means protecting us.
He explained that where there are trees, there is also good rainfall, which helps preserve animals and obtain good harvests for marketing and consumption. He finally instructed the security chiefs of the Tandjilé-Ouest department to help forestry agents in their fight for the protection of the environment.
At the end of the ceremony, the head of the Tandjilé Forest and Wildlife Guard unit, Allafouza Brahim, ordered the sale of a few bags of charcoal and fagots, in order to generate revenue for the public treasury.
