Moselle: The fire in Metz has still not been brought under control

A fire broke out in a building in downtown , during the night from Saturday to Sunday, at 3:50 a.m., indicates the prefecture on four floors on rue Ambroise-Thomas, not far from the Hisler bookstore and the covered market. The origin of the fire is, at this stage, still unknown.

21 people were evacuated from their homes by Moselle firefighters. Three people were slightly injured, note Blue Lorraine . As of 4 p.m., the fire was still not under control. The roof of the building even caught fire. Firefighter intervention is made difficult by dilapidated access points, built in the Middle Ages.

Later, around 10 p.m., the prefecture communicated about the intervention in progress. The challenge for the next few hours will be to neutralize the fire smoldering in the cellars on Rue Hisler and to monitor the residual hot spots on the roof.

Before nightfall, 50 firefighters and 15 engines were still on site. A 100 meter security perimeter has been set up around the intervention zone.
