“We always walk on our heads.” Ten months after their first mobilization, the anger has not subsided. “There have been a lot of announcements made. What matters to farmersit’s concrete,” denounces the FNSEA.
“Fires of anger” Monday November 18, 2024
The FDSEA 82 and the Young Farmers of Tarn-et-Garonne will mobilize on Monday November 18 in Montauban. “Fires of wrath” will be kindled Albasud roundabout in Montauban, Monday November 18, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. “We want to challenge the public authorities: we are not targeting highways. We are not here to annoy the French. We are proud to feed them and produce them in France, it makes sense,” explains the FNSEA.
Income is at the heart of the demands : “The problem of income remains a priority. Following a very complicated year, cash flow is worrying. Grape harvests, harvests, health diseases in the herds. We had problems with the delays in receiving vaccines. The damage is there and must be compensated. On the political side we had the dissolution of the National Assembly which slowed down progress,” say the unions.
The Mercosur agreement worries
The free trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countriesalso brings together all the tensions: » “We need the support of the French to remind us that Europe cannot be a sieve. The objective: to make the voice of European farmers heard at the time of the G20 . A large number of Member States are against import of agricultural products who do not respect our rules. We could also talk about Ukraine, China or customs duties with the United States,” explains the boss of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rouseau.
Finally, the year 2024 was marked by a series of health crises and climatic hazards. In recent months, farms have been affected by several epizootics: avian flu, epizootic hemorrhagic disease in cattle and bluetongue.
