Sylvain Oliveira is a magician and lives in Beauvoir-sur-Mer (Vendée). In October, he participated in the French magic championships. He tells.

A passion born fifteen years ago

Sarthois from the city of Le Mans, started magic fifteen years ago. Nothing predestined him for this vocation which became a passion. “I met Julien Chaudemanche who was already in the show. He introduced me to a taste for magic. We we started in an amusement park by offering 20 minutes of show. It wasn't much, but we got noticed, which gave us the idea to launch ourselves as an independent, under the name Juminiman And Co.”

The duo has lived in Beauvoir-sur-Mer for 8 years. Since their arrival in June 2016, they travel through the campsites of Vendée and Loire-Atlantique every summeras well as holiday villages. “It’s already complete for 2025,” he announces. In winter, it's the works councils, the festival committees, the schools that call on their magic tricks.

“The participation of my animals”

“This year I took the plunge. I sent my application to the French Federation of Conjurer Artists, it's one of the largest European magician conferences and I was selected for the French magic championship in Le Touquet, which took place from October 3 to 6. It's a unique experience, I was selected with 23 other candidates. I made a 7 minute presentation. »

The jury showed great demands.

During these 3 days, the days were intense, from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. On the program, rehearsals, conferences with foreign magicians of several nationalities.

A number sent by a friend

There was general magic, manipulation, comic magic, mentalism, card magic and micro magic. “The number that I presented was closer to poetry, with the participation of my animals, doves and ornamental chickens. There were many new effects and a unique finale in the world. »

This number was created by the great magician Claude Audeloy of Normandya European star of mentalism, a great friend of the couple who is retiring, and who passed on the number to them. “I have been working on this number since the beginning of the year at my home. I spent hours there.”

Sylvain did not receive a prize. “But the experience was so strong that I am not giving up. I will try to get another opportunity in two years, with the same number that I will work and rework. »

The scores are based on the presentation on stage, the atmosphere, the ambiance, the decorations… but also the cleanliness and the care given to the animals. “Now that I have started, I am considering doing other competitions, knowing that this one is the most prestigious. »
