Tripadvisor has determined a list of the best gourmet restaurants in Switzerland. This selection was established by compiling the digital evaluations of the establishments.
More “Entertainment”
Lots of users, detailed reviews, and larger-than-life photos – it all makes Tripadvisor a popular source for restaurant scouts.
The platform compiled the multitude of evaluations and designated thehe best restaurants in the world – and in Switzerland. According to Tripadvisor, less than 1% of the eight million entries make the list. Besides, here is the selection.
elmira, Zurich
“A place where the cooks really shine,” says Tripadvisor’s AI.Image: Tripadvisor
The Elmira restaurant (with lowercase “e”) focuses on local produce and quality. This has earned the establishment two Michelin distinctions: a normal star and a green one, which rewards particularly sustainable cuisine. In the basement of a former silo, the chefs themselves present their creations directly at the table.
Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni, Zermatt
“The warm atmosphere and the breathtaking dining room.”Image: Tripadvisor
At the Alpine Gourmet Prato, everything is clearly perfect: guests rave about the food, the perfectly matched wines and the competent staff. On the menu, there are both regional and international dishes. Bernese star chef Heinz Rufibach lets his customers choose between the “Heimat” and “Fernweh” menus. They each consist of four to six dishes, can be mixed and cost from 150 francs.
Ackermannshof, Basel
The Ackermannshof in Basel also offers fine dining. The restaurant is a restored printing house dating back centuries and is run by chef Flavio Fermi. On Tripadvisor, there are certainly a few rare reviews dissatisfied with the value for money and the “mini-portions”, but a majority find the experience in this gourmet restaurant excellent.
Pic Au Beau-Rivage Palace, Lausanne
Art on the plate…Image: Tripadvisor
…and in the room.
At Pic Au Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, you really eat with your eyes. Tripadvisor’s AI can’t stop raving: the restaurant “enchants with its magnificent setting”, the “remarkable” tasting menu is paired with “exquisite” wines. AI or not, a visit seems worth it, wallet permitting. Seven dishes cost 330 francs. Without the wine.
L’Aparté, Geneva
Brains? Seafood? A plant?Image: Tripadvisor
Here too, the plates are more beautiful than the others. Who would dare use a fork in front of such filigree works of food art? What characterizes this restaurant: “The emphasis on seafood”. At least that’s what the AI says.
Crissier Town Hall Restaurant, Crissier
With its green wing, this lobster does not immediately fly into the air, as its presentation suggests.Image: Tripadvisor
We stay in French-speaking Switzerland and the emphasis on seafood. And artistically presented plates. Hôtel de Ville has 24 cooks, more than any other Swiss restaurant. They create creations such as the “elegant poached demoiselles” (this is what Brittany lobsters are poetically called here) or the “Gourmet Soup” with peas (cut in half) and carrots.
Steinhalle, Bern
The room was renovated in 2023.Image: Tripadvisor
The Steinhalle offers international cuisine, as chef Markus Arnold is a globetrotter. He regularly goes on gastronomic trips and shares his discoveries with his hosts in the form of meals and blog articles. In the evening, it’s casual dining (“fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere”), and at lunchtime, the easy lunch.
Puss in Boots, Geneva
Le Chat-botte is a Geneva establishment with “elegant decor, pleasantly spaced tables and an original choice of bread”. That’s what Tripadvisor’s chatbot says. Human reviewers seem to like the restaurant so much that they return regularly to enjoy contemporary French cuisine.
Meta restaurant, Lugano
The modern palazzo of the Mantegazza family in Lugano-Paradiso, with its panoramic terrace overlooking the lake, impresses. Chef Luca Bellanca creates an imaginative and seasonal gastronomic menu, offering both local specialties and international dishes.
Bayview by Michel Roth, Geneva
A practical place with a welcoming atmosphere, according to the AI.Image: Tripadvisor
Here too, we eat with a view of the lake. Chef Michel Roth reinterprets classic French cuisine and serves, for example, a signature menu of 7 to 10 dishes.
