Manche – Communities offer free diagnostics of vulnerability to flood risks. In Cherbourg, hundreds of homes are affected
The project of free and optional diagnostics of flood zones has been carried out by the Cotentin Agglomeration and by the Manche Departmental Council for several years, according to information from Actu.fr.
Thanks to these diagnostics, the communities of La Manche classify the level of vulnerability of housing located in red flood zones. Diagnostics also make it possible to design precise devices for owners.
A budget of 500.00 euros to finance the project
“When we see the images of the floods in the south of France, for example, it is reassuring to know that we can anticipate certain things,” explains Valérie Nouvel, the vice-president of the Departmental Council, in charge of the adaptation to climate change, to our colleagues at Actu.fr. To carry out these diagnostics, the Cotentin Agglomeration and the Manche Department spent 500,000 euros.
Thus, the 460 owners of Cherbourg housing, located in the red flood zone, can request to have their property diagnosed.
