“In July 2024 and after several months of investigation, the juvenile office (Ofmin) managed to infiltrate, on Telegram messaging, discussion groups in which individuals exchanged child criminal content and shared images and videos of the abuse that “They committed against minors,” explained the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office in its press release.
The investigation made it possible to identify “members presenting themselves as producers of videos of sexual abuse committed against minors around them”. The 63-year-old suspect, arrested in Bordeaux on November 12, was one of these “producers”.
Three other arrests
At the same time, three other individuals were arrested in Finistère, Lille and Bourg-en-Bresse for the same reasons.
Ofmin investigators also transmitted to “partner foreign police services” the identity of “thirty targets” as well as “digital evidence” of their offenses, the Brest prosecutor’s office explained.
Thanks to this long investigation and the infiltration of these Telegram groups, investigators were able to identify 10,000 child criminals from 50 countries, more than 70,000 messages and 23,000 child criminal images.
