On November 13, 2024, the firefighters of the department announced the death of one of their own. Aged 59 ansDaniel Tonneau, married et father of two childrenwas carried away by the cancer the evening before.

It must be said that the vocation by Daniel Tonneau was born early. At the age of 14, he signed up as young firefighter to the first intervention corps of Marles-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais). Two years later, he signed his first commitment volunteer firefighter.
After obtaining his baccalaureate and his military service carried out in the ranks of the Paris fire brigade in 1986, he then entered the departmental body of Seine-et-Marne in the capacity of professional firefighter. He was then assigned to the Pontault-Combault barracks.
Promoted sergeant in July 1994, he joined the workforce of Fire and rescue center (CIS) from Chelles. Following his success in the competition lieutenant, In 1998, he was assigned to Meaux, where he assumed the operational functions of group leader.
“He loved being of service to others”
After 2 years of experience within the barracks of Lognes between 2002 et 2004Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Tonneau was then transferred to the Eastern group in order to take charge of the forecast section. It is in this position that he is promoted to captain.
The following year, still in the Eastern grouping, he became prevention officerThen head of the prevention sectiona position he held until his appointment as head of the Provins barracks, in November 2014.
In 2018, he returned to the Eastern group, as deputy to the group leader. “Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Tonneau was also involved in specialties such as the rescue in dangerous environmentsTHE forest fires and the radiological risk », Specifies Sdis 77.
“Daniel’s first passion was always loving his job and above all being of service to others,” confides Nathalie, his wife. Above all, he was someone attentive to people who surrounded him, whether from a personal or professional point of view.
He also had a passion for aviation and for everything that flies in general: helicopter, paraglider, paramotor… He piloted and was inexhaustible on the subject. »
THE funeral by Daniel Tonneau will take place on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. Saint-Ayoul churchin Provins.
