Juliette has a guardian angel, and his name is Martial. At the age of 26, this young woman from Gironde suffered two cardiac arrests 12 years apart. Twice, she was saved by the same firefighter: Martial Mallothimself a Girondist.
It all started in 2012. At the age of 14, Juliette was taking a course at Saint-André college in Bordeaux when her heart stopped beating. Taken care of by the school nurse, she was then entrusted to a fire brigade.
Martial, who was part of it, brought her back to life using a defibrillator. “Finally, this morning in 2012 is a good memory, the firefighter told France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The outcome is beautiful and Juliette has not suffered any after-effects. Today, she has successfully completed her studies and has a completely normal life.”
A tumultuous reunion
Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, Juliette was actually able to return to normal life. She studied physiotherapy, inspired in particular by her rescue in 2012, then opened her practice in Ambarès-et-Lagrave, the town where Martial himself is based. “I like meeting people, listening to them, supporting them and helping them. What I like is understanding how the human body works,” explains the young woman.
In the summer of 2024, the firefighter made an appointment with the new physiotherapist in Ambarès. To his great surprise, he recognized Juliette, the little girl he had saved twelve years earlier. Of course, the latter was delighted to see him again. “He passed a few patients on the waiting list, but he had the right, Juliette confides to our colleagues. It was deserved.”
“As luck would have it, I have a stop in the presence of Martial”
But the reunion did not go as planned.
In the middle of a session with Martial, Juliette had another cardiac arrest. Neither one nor two, her guardian angel resuscitated her, once again with a defibrillator.
For twelve years I had nothing. And there, as if by chance, I have a stop in the presence of Martial. It's incredible”, exclaims the young physiotherapist.
Aware of her luck, the young woman does not let her heart disease get her down. “I'm often told that I'm detached when I talk about my cardiac arrests. It's true that I cried very little about it. I think that deep down, I have a fairly normal life, with some after-effects of course, but I can still do whatever I want.” she assures.
