On Wednesday, a 16-year-old girl, a student at Claude Garamont high school, in Colombes, in Hauts-de-Seine, was placed in police custody. She is suspected of having slapped and tried to strangle her teacher, in class, in front of her classmates, reports Europe 1.
According to information from Figarothe teacher had just asked her students to change the arrangement of the tables for an evaluation when the high school student got up to leave the room. The teacher would have stopped her. The teenager then allegedly slapped the sixty-year-old, before grabbing her by the neck to strangle her.
The intervention of an adult from the school, alerted by screams, put an end to the scene. Contacted by the school, the police went to the scene and arrested the young girl before taking her to the police station to place her in custody.
An ongoing investigation and a solidarity strike
The day after the events, the high school teachers went on strike out of solidarity and to denounce the attack on their colleague. The professor announced that she was going to file a complaint.
An investigation was opened by the Nanterre public prosecutor's office for “intentional violence leading to a total interruption of work of less than eight days and in a school establishment”.
