300 guests for a great party

This June’s party was announced by posters in the neighborhood with the Richard Gardet orchestra and, very quickly, registrations were full! The president of the committee, René Vera, gave a welcome speech, thanking all the participants and the elected officials who accepted the invitation, including the mayor Jean-Paul Fournier and his wife, as well as ten other personalities, including David Griffon director of the CCAS (Communal Center for Social Action). He also cited Gerardo Marzo, who was a valuable help in the technical organization of the party.

René Vera, surrounded by twenty members of the board of directors, spoke about the Castanet district: “A small village in the city, however threatened if construction destroying the scrubland continues.” A moving moment when Bernard Picq, deputy president, spoke of the death of William Sabatier, the irreplaceable memory of the neighborhood, remarkable for his effective but discreet action within this committee.

At the time of the complimentary aperitif, an astonishing Polynesian dance demonstration enchanted the participants. Then, the tables set up in the courtyard welcomed nearly three hundred guests for the meal prepared by the neighborhood caterer. The orchestra of Richard Gardet, trumpeter, played throughout the party in the presence of astonishing and graceful dancers who, with incredible dexterity, changed alluring outfits for new dances, including a superb French cancan. All of Castanet was at the party because the music resonated well beyond the courtyard of the neighborhood center!
