Unafam is organizing three meetings in November to discuss psychological disorders. The National Union of Families and Friends of Mentally Sick and/or Disabled People has the mission of supporting loved ones of people suffering from mental illnesses. She contributes through her commitment to lifting the taboos that still exist in society on these psychological illnesses. “Schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety disorders… behind these words, there are the problems of the three million people living with severe mental disorders and those of the five million caregivers,” recalls the Unafam team, including Martial Cornevin, treasurer of the departmental union.
The association fights to raise awareness of these pathologies and break the isolation in which patients and caregivers can find themselves.
It is with this aim, and also to make Unafam better known, that it is organizing three coffee meetings this month. The first will be held on Saturday 16 November in Etain from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Salle de la Halle (rue des Casernes); the second will take place in Clermont-en-Argonne, Saturday 23 November from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Seisaam village hall, route de Lochères, and the third Saturday 30 November, in Bar-le-Duc, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at GEM Les Pépins de la vie, 41 rue Raymond Poincaré.
For this last meeting, Véronique Mages, psychologist, will speak on the theme “Mental health of young people: who will listen to me? “. It will be a “psytrialogue”, a discussion with people affected by the disorders, and family and professional entourage. “Everyone can open the door if they have a question to ask about themselves or if they are wondering about one of their loved ones,” encourages Martial Cornevin. A word of advice: come and talk about it!
