The Auguste-Aymard vocational high school is getting new training with the arrival of a metalworker CAP at the start of the next school year. Good news for the Espaviot establishment. The Rectorate's announcement caused a stir last spring. The Auguste-Aymard high school was due to close its doors by 2027. Six months after its unexpected rescue, the vocational training establishment is adding a new string to its bow with the arrival of a metalworker CAP at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. . “This is very good news. A lot of work has been done to reverse things,” explains Laurent Wauquiez, special advisor to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
“We have other projects in mind”
The opening of this new CAP comes at the right time. “This will restore momentum and the establishment will regain dynamism and attractiveness,” continues the Les Républicains (LR) deputy for the 1st constituency of Haute-Loire. Next September, twelve students will join this complementary training of the CAPs already existing at Auguste-Aymard such as the carpentry-manufacturer course or the Bac pro maintenance and wood construction.

“We will have to continue to think, it’s a real battle. We have other projects in mind,” adds Laurent Wauquiez, referring to a possible new CAP for carpenter-fitter in Espaly-Saint-Marcel. “The metalworker training already existed as an apprenticeship, it will open up to a traditional school route. It's good to be able to mix students and apprentices. We do it for the other training courses.
We are very attached to this,” rejoices principal Yannick Castellino. “I am delighted with this announcement. We must highlight the remarkable daily work of the teaching team and the commitment of the Region,” adds Christiane Mosnier, mayor of Espaly-Saint-Marcel. “When they leave high school, young people stay in the region, work and start a family. This is what maintains schools and services. It’s very important,” concludes Jean-Pierre Vigier, LR deputy for the 2nd constituency.
