An ideal place to properly celebrate your birthday. This Thursday, November 14, Patrick Sébastien will certainly blow out his 70th candle in his house located in Martel, in the Lot. Although he has a residence in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), the former emblematic leader of Largest cabaret in the world mainly loves to recharge his batteries in this Occitan countryside. And this is no coincidence. Born in Brive-la-Gaillarde and having grown up in a small town in Corrèze, the singer knows the region well! “I have had a thousand lives. I'm already on the last or penultimate. I only keep the positive. I still have to die peacefully here, at home in Martel, in nature and silence. I'm good there”, he confided to our colleagues at Tele-Leisure.
Attached to this region, Patrick Sébastien therefore decided to build a cozy nest there, away from prying eyes. In 1978, Lily's father acquired a huge piece of land in the village of Martel “for a pittance at the time”. “I absolutely wanted to be in the middle of 35 hectares so as not to have any neighbors”he revealed on the microphone of France Bluein December 2022. Before revealing the amount of its acquisition: “I bought this for 70,000 euros at the time. I took out a 25-year loan because I didn't have any money. But I wanted this little corner of land.” His dream having come true, Nathalie's ex-husband therefore embarked on a major project to build his haven of peace in this medieval village in the Quercy region. Right in the middle of a rural setting and lush green vegetation, Patrick Sébastien is the happy owner of a large white house with rustic shutters. There, he enjoys a peaceful living environment and numerous amenities including a swimming pool and a tennis court. And from its immense terrace, its new office, the “bring” by François Hollande produces short videos for his fans. “Nothing soothes me, except the smell of my land, in Martel”he assured the magazine Gala in 2008. A place he wouldn't trade for the world.
Patrick Sébastien wishes to end his life in Martel
Having settled in Martel for more than four decades, this small village of less than 2,000 inhabitants no longer holds any secrets for Patrick Sébastien. For the show teams Capitalbroadcast in July 2023, the host played the tourist guide by revealing his favorite places, including “the magical little place” you village. “I am attached to heritage, I am attached to real values over artificial ones. I am a well-known Influencer”he revealed in front of the cameras. During this visit, the one who had to overcome the tragic death of his son Sébastien also showed a secret place, a 17th century mansion. “For me, it’s my most beautiful village”, he assured.
So much so that Patrick Sébastien would like Martel to become a somewhat special place of pilgrimage. “I have just bought the concession for my grave next door, in the Martel cemetery. I tell myself that lots of people will come to the village, will go see the traders… It's giving back to my village what it gave me“, he concluded, a little moved.
