Samir Haqui, who was burned alive in his car amid a settling of scores in Pau, was to celebrate his 28th birthday on November 26. He was born in Dax. He had completed a large part of his schooling in the spa town and had discovered football within the Jeanne D'arc club in Dax, in which he played between 2002 and 2009. Then, he left the Landes to move in Orthez (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), where he joined the commercial sector at the Francis-Jammes vocational school. Having completed his bachelor's degree in 2015, he subsequently joined the Eklore-ed management school in Pau. At the end of this student course, the young man returned to settle in Dax.
In 2021, Samir Haqui participated in the founding of an air conditioning and heat pump installation company which had developed in several departments in the region, extending from Gironde to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. He then, from Dax, held the position of commercial director of the company until 2023.
A “jovial and laughing” man
A person who knew him remembers him as a “jovial and laughing young man, who stood out for his personality”. One of his former colleagues – quite moved by this tragedy – speaks of a “kind man, whom everyone appreciated”.
The ongoing investigation should make it possible to determine the exact circumstances which led Samir Haqui to go, on Sunday November 10, to the Ousse-des-Bois district, in Pau, where he was found dead.
