Did you know? Behind the Val de Jeux Festival there are nine associations and more than a hundred volunteers. Passionate about this world of board games, they open the doors to a sometimes little-known world. And yet so wonderful! “ It’s quite an adventure… We started without any pretension, saying to ourselves that we were going to please people by playing games as we know how to do in general (in our associations). And then, it grows little by little, we are delighted to see more and more people coming back or coming to discover the Val des Jeux. » As children, we all had fun playing Scrabble, UNO or even werewolf… before abandoning them as adults. Every year, the Val des Jeux Festival proves to us that board games are not just for children. Every month, hundreds of new references are landing in specialized departments. And there is something for all tastes (and all ages)! “ We wanted to show that the board game was developing all over the world (and particularly in France). » Last year, the festival welcomed more than 3,500 visitors. This year again, the Val des Jeux Festival opens its doors to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Saturday) and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Sunday). Any advice? Let yourself be carried away by the electric atmosphere of the festival!
What can we expect? This year, visitors can discover more than 200 board gamesa total of around fifty publishers gathered at Val des Jeux Festival ! « They all came out this year for the most part. These are groups of tables with editors who present their game, professional or volunteer facilitators to explain the rules. The advantage of Val des Jeux is that you come, you return and it’s free. We sit at a table and someone comes to explain the rules to us. And that's good because in general, that's what puts people off playing. » On site, the most curious will even be able to try their hand at prototypes which have not yet hit the shelves… And yes! “ There are more than 1000 outings per year. We are sure that with this, there will indeed be something for everyone. We like to explain to parents who come with children that they too can play with friends around an aperitif (party games). » Do you like adventure, strategy or even relaxation games? There will definitely be something that will surprise you! “ We have escape games, all day long, with escape games for families but also for children. We wanted to have this so that the little ones could have fun beyond the board game. We have the prototype competition (with an exclusive discovery of board games)… There will be quite a few tournaments which will take place on Saturday or Sunday. » You can even play until the end of the night… On Saturday November 16, 2024, the Eric Tabarly gymnasium (Serris) will close its doors at 10 p.m. A night that should stay in everyone's minds… All in joy and good humor!

The Val des Jeux Festival, a family outing. Collectible card games, wargames and fun activities… For a weekend, you will be able to have fun with your whole tribe. “ You don't need to be a professional to participate in the tournament, it's just for the pleasure of discovering the games. We have Cultura (Clos du Chêne) who will come to do a lot of activities with the creation of small games… I think there will be pokemon cards to make on Sunday. » Do you have an artistic streak? “ We make painting on figurines with enthusiasts for the children to discover this. » A festive atmosphere that brings together all the players in the region. To prepare the Val des Jeux Festival, teams can rely on unconditional support of the municipalities of Val d'Europe. « It is a big support at the level of Val d'Europe Agglomération which supports the Festival with a subsidy and the loan of equipment. » Magny-le-Hongre, Coupvray or even Bailly-Romainvilliers… All municipalities lend tables and chairs. Essential help! “ All in the Eric Tabarly gymnasium with our 108 volunteers, 70 professionals over the weekend. There must be wonder, people must be able to discover the games when entering this room… There has to be a 'wow' effect ! ” underlines Raphaël Rieux.
