Two million euros to secure the Saint-Pancrace torrent in La Bâtie-Neuve. According to the municipality, in the event of torrential rains and floods, two districts could be affected: Borels and Césaris. This is what emerges from several studies carried out. A file on the table for around twenty years, according to the municipality, which was finally relaunched in partnership with the Community of Communes of Serre-Ponçon Val d'Avance.

According to Joël Bonnaffoux, the mayor of Bâtie-Neuve and President of the Community of Communes of Serre-Ponçon Val d'Avance, “the first studies were carried out 20 years ago to protect the Césaris district. But in the end it was too expensive.”

“We still have fears with this torrent”, J. Bonnaffoux

« Now with the GEMAPI competence the Community of Communes has relaunched this project. It will be less expensive, and also less impactful compared to houses that would have had to be demolished. We will widen the stream bed by one km, footbridges will be removed, and on the residential part, we will strengthen the banks” explains the chosen one.
