He has made a place for himself among the most beautiful in France. After a 2023 edition marked by more than a million visitors, a record for the city, the Christmas market will return to Reims in a few days. It will be once again on the high promenades Jean-Louis Schneiter, from Wednesday November 27 to Sunday December 29.
A new universe for children
For this 27th edition, children will discover a new space on the Porte de Mars esplanade. An “enchanted forest” of 875 m² will invite them to dream, around “real Ardennes fir trees which will be displayed on this set”specifies Vincent Mansencal, president of Vitrines de Reims, the association which organizes the market. There will again be chalets with machines but these will be new, since this year, it is the service provider OG Events, based in Rethel, who is responsible for organizing the entertainment.
Dismissed in 2023, the little train will be back and open in the presence of Santa Claus, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.Then between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The esplanade will also host the champagne kiosk, manned by the staff of the Le Lion brasserie.
150 chalets, a third of them for gourmets
Some have already been installed in recent days. The 150 chalets on the market (i.e., for comparison, half of the Strasbourg market, editor's note) will soon be ready. Visitors will find ideas for gifts of all kinds and something to eat. In fact, a third of the chalets will offer drinks and food.
On the station square, the market for local artisans and producers will be continued. The traders who make it up have the possibility of renting a chalet for the week, “which allows us to bring something new every week”greets Vincent Mansencal.
An atmosphere with more traditional colors
We indicated it in our November 11 edition: Reims is changing its festive outfit this year. On the promenades as in many streets, illuminations in warmer tones were preferred to the older, colder colors. You should expect a dominance of green and red.
With these colors, the town hall wants to create an “American Christmas” atmosphere. But if this theme was chosen, it is above all to give a nod to our neighbors across the Atlantic as the 80th anniversary of the Surrender approaches, which will be celebrated in 2025.
From November 27, the lights will remain on from 5 p.m. to midnight, an hour and a half more than last year. In order to bring more magic, Santa Claus will not only wander through the market but he will also travel through the heart of the city. On the music side, members of the Karpates show, the Trompettes de Noël and the Arts et Cie choir will liven up the market.
RTL radio live from the market
RTL radio will relocate its studio to the Reims Christmas market, but also to the convention center on December 18 for “Les gros têtes”. Several broadcasts will be recorded live from the market, from November 29 to December 3, with “RTL midi”, “Auditors have the floor”, “L'heure du crime”, “Stop ou encore”, “On refait la télé” and “It can happen to you.” An online ticket office will be set up before the end of the month to attend.
