It is an initiative of the municipality of Bignon (-Atlantique) in favor of the ecological transition. Until this Friday, November 15, through the “Adopt a Tree” operation, she is offering to each household in the town a tree to plant in your garden.

»It is an invitation to participate in a concrete way in the revegetation of Bignon, promotes Alexandra Cailleaud, deputy for Ecological and Sustainable Transition. This allows us to keep our commitment alive and mobilize each family to protect the environment. »

To choose from 9 tree species

To adopt your tree, it’s simple. Simply register at the town hall or via an online form. And choose a specimen from 9 species of bocage trees and shrubs labeled “local plant of the Armorican massif”. Pedunculate oak, holm oak, field elm, chestnut, cherry, buckthorn, bloody dogwood, buckthorn or hazel… Species sheets are available on the town hall website.

They will help residents make their choice based on the orientation and size of the garden, the nature of the soil, the speed of growth but also the final size targeted and the desired use (decorative, privacy screen). view). Each plant will be accompanied by a commitment charter and advice for planting and maintaining your tree.

The distribution will take place on Saturday, November 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the municipal workshops: just in time for Saint Catherine's Day, where everything takes root!

225 trees and shrubs to adopt

In total, 25 plants of each species are to be adoptedor 225 in total. “124 have already been reserved”, reports the municipality, with “a big success for the hazel, the chestnut and the blood dogwood”. If some remain without an adoptive family, they will be planted in the green spaces of the municipality.
