Jean-Luc Gleyze, president of the Department, Jean Galand, vice-president in charge of mobility and infrastructure, Louis Cavaleiro, vice-president in charge of human resources and social dialogue and Nathalie Paguet, head of the Civil Engineering department – sustainable construction of the The IUT of Bordeaux will seal the sponsorship of the BUT (university bachelor of technology) Civil Engineering – sustainable construction class, for a period of 3 years (2024-2027).
Here, the Department engages with 130 students (aged 17 to 24) throughout their studies to enable them to discover and better understand professions and careers in the community linked to their studies. This could go so far as to offer the opportunity to 10 students to join the community via a 3-year apprenticeship contract. The Department is thus banking on apprenticeship which could make it possible to recruit future agents in the civil engineering field who would already know the culture and values of the community in the service of the general interest.
Professions in the building sectors, public works, rehabilitation and improvement of the environmental performance of buildings, design consultancy offices, etc. are experiencing strong tension in Gironde as elsewhere. This will worsen with the retirements of departmental agents, scheduled for the coming years (around 142 retirements in total expected in 2024). These professions are essential to guarantee secure, rehabilitated and environmentally friendly infrastructures, whether for colleges (112 colleges accommodate 65,800 students), roads (800,000 people are on the roads daily in Gironde) or even the various buildings which welcome the public (100 Houses of the Department of Solidarity in particular).
The immersion courses will take place over the following periods:
– from May 26, 2025 to June 27, 2025 (4 weeks)
– from March 9, 2026 to April 20, 2026 (6 weeks)
– from October 26, 2026 to December 18, 2026 then from April 5, 2027 to May 28, 2027 (16 weeks).
