This Tuesday morning it was more difficult to travel on the seafront of Saint-Denis, between Chaudron and Barachois. It is a snail operation carried out by cash conveyors which has caused these slowdowns.
Around twenty vehicles, supervised by police forces, circulated at reduced speed on both sides of Saint-Denis. The demonstrators, cash conveyors, went to the Prefecture. They denounce their working conditions and pressure on staff.
Rémy Belda, CFDT transport and equipment manager, is angry. He denounces the non-compliance with regulations by cash conveyance companies in Reunion.
Some of the vehicles would be real “rolling coffins” according to him. The repairs to be made, revealed during technical inspections, are not carried out.
On the staff side, some would be subject to pressure from their management, in particular from elected officials.
The latter denounce the lack of continuing training of their colleagues.
An elected official was suspended as a precautionary measure, then dismissed. After a request to the labor inspectorate, the company was rejected, the employee has still not been reinstated.
Another person who is no longer up to date with his professional training refused to take his position so as not to be outside the law. She was also suspended as a precautionary measure.
The demonstrators expect the public authorities to stop these failings.
