The municipalities of Morbihan, like in 20,000 in France, are mobilizing for the Telethon, a charity event organized by theFrench Association against Myopathies (AFM). The 2024 edition takes place on Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, 2024 and aims to finance research projects on myopathies, neuromuscular genetic diseases and other rare genetic diseases.
Since its creation in 1987, the Telethon has taken place every year on the first weekend of December. In 2024, it will take place exceptionally on the last two days of November in order to give way to the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral on December 7 and 8.
The Telethon is a gathering which collects 3% of annual donations from French people, the largest popular collection in the world. Organized with the help of France Télévision which is setting up a television marathon on its channels, it brings together around this cause, in a festive manner, 20,000 French municipalities with those abroad and 280,000 volunteers from 50,000 local associations everywhere in the world. The 2023 Telethon collected 80,671,222 euros.
With each edition, four new cities take up the torch to become ambassadors. For the 2024 Telethon, the spotlight will be on Avesnes-sur-Helpe, a small town in the North; Firminy, commune of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes; Bonifacio in Corsica and Quimper in Finistère (see our article).
Our selection of entertainment for the Telethon 2024 in the Morbihandepartment which had collected €384,684 in 2023: balls and concerts; boxing matches; hikes, scholarships, raffles, belote competitions, karaoke, visits to the museum, etc.
A Gueron Saturday November 30 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., a Fest Nozthe Telethon folk ball with the groups And amateurs et Head in the air. Salle de la Gare – Place de la Gare in Guer.
Formed in 2003, And amateurs is made up of five musicians who play traditional music: Nathalie de Caden is on the diatonic accordion; André also plays the diatonic accordion and Marcel is on the clarinet, both from Saint-Jacut-les-Pins; Pierre de Pluherlin plays flute and clarinet; Didier de Peillac is on bombard and vocals.
Head in the air is a vocal group under the direction of Aymeric Mahieu, the pianist-arranger, accompanied by around thirty singers. The group's repertoire draws its interpretations from contemporary French song.
In Séné, Saturday November 30 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Séné Team Boxing will put on the gloves for Senethon and for a great moment of solidarity.
Around fifty very young boxers, children and adolescents aged 6 to 16, will meet in the ring. This educational boxing interclub meeting will take place in a spirit of fair play and mutual aid, for the benefit of the Telethon. A ballot box at the entrance will be offered to sports participants and the general public for donations to benefit the AFM-Téléthon, as will the proceeds from the refreshment bar which will be entirely donated to the AFM.
A Ploërmel and to Tauponthikes and races for S'Taupont the disease ! will be organized on Saturday November 30. Meet for registration at the Préau des Carmes in Ploërmel at 1:45 p.m., price €5. Departure at 2:30 p.m. for a hike of approximately 9 km to Ploërmel and Taupont.
Numerous stands will be offered to visitors for the benefit of the AFM. Among the new features: a toy and childcare fair and a fest-noz in Taupont

A Plouayon Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, the edition of the Telethon 2024 will be completely remodeled with varied activities outside but also inside, in order to avoid the inconveniences of the weather as may have occurred in 2023. An auction of a cord of wood as well as a raffle will take place in the afternoon.
On Friday 29, the festivities will begin at 8 p.m. with sea shanties and at 9 p.m. a big fest-noz will be hosted by the groups Spered Bro Ploue and its sixty members composed of thirty-two dancers and thirty-five singers and the group Kas A Barh with his practice of singing, music and Breton dances in Pays de Plouay.
On Saturday 30 from 10 a.m., choral singing will be the prelude to a day where demonstrations of urban dance, hip-hop, country, zumba and a whole host of other activities will take place on stage…
A Badena brand new association was created last September to organize the 2024 Telethon: Baden Telethon! The public will be able to enjoy a multitude of very varied activities: sporting, fun and cultural, with sea shanties, karaoke, a belote competition, tennis, basketball, visits to the museum…
The most important event will be the 1,000 km relay on foot, which will take place over 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. This slow or fast walk, at the participants' choice, will have a 1 km circuit around Baden town hall.
