Heaven evolves in a whirlwind of colors where flowers, butterflies, fish and geese cross paths on the canvases. The titles of his creations, such as Cover Pivoine, Petite strawberry de luxe or Poissonnerie Graffiti, reflect his love of words and his unique way of playing with the senses.

The Orléans painter Cieu, invited this Thursday, November 14 on the set of “You are wonderful”, has just closed an exhibition at the Galerie La Tour Saint-Étienne in Orléans. He comes back happy, exhausted, but reinvigorated.

The curator of this event, Gil Bastide, plays a special role in its journey. Their relationship is rare. Originally, Cieu was returning from , satisfied with the galleries where he had exhibited, thinking that Orléans would be a place of rest, a new rhythm, a time to concentrate on his works intended for Parisian galleries. But a call from his father will upset his plans: “I think Gil is not in art by chance. » Intrigued, Cieu approaches the gallery and takes a first step towards Gil… From this meeting a prolific collaboration and a deep friendship are born.

Gil Bastide is for Cieu a true “temple guardian”, like those we no longer make. A rare kind of gallery owner: A passionate person who takes the time to truly know the artists, to enter their world, and to understand their paintings not only on a technical level, but also emotionally. Gil knows exactly what's on each painting and why it's there. Heaven calls him “my captain”, seeing him as a guide, like the professor in The Circle of Dead Poets.

The series are an integral part of Cieu's work, a facet of his artistic approach. They allow him to delve deeper into a subject and explore all its possibilities. With butterflies, he discovered an “endless well”, a series that he could develop indefinitely, varying the colors, shapes and patterns. This idea of continuous progression is essential in his approach.

Other series, such as those of birds that sing out of tune, are linked to more personal and symbolic motifs, which particularly resonate with him.

For Cieu, portraits represent a real struggle, a creative fight that continues until the soul of the gaze is revealed. This gaze, whether present or empty, decides the outcome of the work. It's a merciless exercise, which immediately shows where the artist is. For him, painting follows emotional codes, well beyond realism. The important thing is to stop at the right time.

With a limited stock, Cieu creates specifically for its exhibitions and in music! A former student of Cours Florent, he has multiple palettes and ranges to make his art vibrate, a singular richness that shapes his identity.

Creator of little planned accidents, he gets bored when everything is too clean, too balanced. What strikes him are these sketchbooks, more spontaneous, where colors mingle with annotations. This raw energy, these imperfections affect him well beyond the window of appearance.

Each unique look offers a new dimension to the painting when it subtly captures the mind. The new duo composed of the essence of the artist and the extension of oneself gives free rein to the imagination and reveals more or less buried emotions, like small pebbles that lead to the essential.

“These colorless petals, like a blank page, measuring a silence in music. I see there a work in suspense which hands the brush to those who look at it to add their touch and their sensitivity. shared creation, but also a generosity and a multitude of opportunities to give roots and wings to his painting, as a parent would do for his child.”

And you, what story does this work of Heaven whisper in your ear?
