Hospitalized for
inflammation of the intestines, Gérald Claudet was urgently admitted to Langres hospital in Haute-Marne. But the forty-year-old found himself transported to a special place: the garage, lack of space in the health establishment.
Last October, the man from Seine-et-Marne was on vacation in his home town, Celles-en-Bassigny, in Haute-Marne. He testified to BFMTV
having felt severe stomach pain and then went to the emergency room, from where the
nightmare starts for him.
Forced to sleep in the garage
On October 26, 2024, his first night at the hospital is going well. Issue ? After 24 hours, his condition requires several days of hospitalization, he must be moved. Around 1 a.m., the staff moved him…to take him to a very special and unexpected place. “Where am I going? How’s it going?” asks the patient.
“In a garage. When we no longer have room here, it's not complicated: we open the garage and put the patients in there.” The staff then allegedly responded, which made him angry. “I am I don’t know where. In times of warin a place where we put the sick? I don't really know where we are, but in any case
not in a French hospital.“ protests Gérard Claudet at the microphone of BFMTV. The place is also
noisywith the noises of the ventilation, the father asks to go home the next day.
The patient contacts various medical structures
Gérald Claudet also has images which show that
four people were already in this
“sorting room” fitted out in the garage. He also wrote a letter addressed to
the Regional Health Agency, at the Langres hospital center and at the Ministry of Health.
The ARS simply replied that it was opening a complaint and brought the information down to the local level. So far, there has been no response from the public authorities. The man is angry and wishes that his request is heardhence the fact of making his story known to the public by testifying in the press. “I asked in this letter to have a reasoned return. And I also point out that I invite decision-makers to spend a night with me in this garage.“ he finally concluded.
