EThey are long awaited and always full of surprises. As a round approaches, everyone watches for them, tracks them down and scrutinizes them as soon as they come out: the publication of the entry lists for the next round.
With less than a week to go before the deadline, 120 drivers have already sent their registrations to come and compete on the superb ¼ mile track, the only one in France at this level of preparation.
Some figures which will be inflated by June 22 with the last registrants:
- Super Pro AND (8.99 at 6s for ¼ mile) : 30 registered in 5 countries,
- Pro ET (11.99 at 9s for ¼ mile): 42 registered in 7 countries,
- Street Run ET (12 to 18s for ¼ mile): 13 registered from 5 countries,
- Junior Dragster (ages 8 to 18 for 1/8 mile) : 11 registered from 4 countries,
- Super Gas (fixed time of 9.90s for ¼ mile) : 1 registered who will not stay alone,
- Super Comp (fixed time of 8.90s for ¼ mile) : 8 registered for this category which interests more and more people
And in these figures, there are always new entrants, the faithful of the track, the teams which have developed over the last few years, the exhibitors who come in classic cars and the ever-increasing number of fans. The mixture of these ingredients makes these beautiful weekends a great motorsport celebration.
We felt it and we were not mistaken: the shy sun at the start of the year shone brightly for the first round on May 11 and 12 to guarantee a worthy competition and mark the skin whitened by winter ! Between 7 and 10 runs were achieved by each competitor during the qualifying phases on Saturday and Sunday morning, a record!
German victory in Super Pro AND (8.99 at 6s for ¼ mile). The faithful Michael Mikuscheit and his superb Chevrolet El Camino wins 1time round of the year against the Spaniard Angel Romero and his Chevrolet Camaro.
You have noticed: the number of more than 40 registrants is becoming a habit in Pro ET (11.99 at 9s for ¼ mile). This reinforces the importance of the times achieved in qualifying: only 32 are retained for the Sunday qualifiers. It’s therefore about giving your best from the first runs of the weekend! The Briton Ronnie Mercer and his legendary Ford Popular “Annie”, regulars at Clastres but also on European tracks, brilliantly won 1time round of the year. 2024 title at stake, the team inevitably returns in June.
We no longer need to introduce him, he is now a regular at the top of the podium in this category. Street Run ET (12 to 18s for ¼ mile). Nicolas Chevassus with his Pontiac Firebird once again puts everyone in agreement by winning the first 2024 round.
Scenario also known in Junior Dragster (ages 8 to 18 for 1/8 mile). She is growing, she is growing Marie Camilleri and her determination is growing at the same time! Victory for 1time of the year.
An immense joy! This is what characterized the Venetian Italian Oscar Scappocin and his Chevrolet Nova “Goin Bananas”! He climbed to the highest step of the podium in Super Gas (fixed time of 9.90s for ¼ mile).
He tried it and he liked it! The legend Didier Billault wanted to test the category Super Comp (fixed time of 8.90s for ¼ mile and a Christmas tree in competition mode). He reached the final but had to lose to Clément Dubois and his superb Slingshot.
She came, she ran and she loved it. For her very first race, the little “rookie” Aurore Arnaud left happy and impatient to participate in the next round.
Be careful, one Arnaud can hide another! Successful first laps for Laurent Arnaud and his brand new Corvette C5 revealing a superb dress adorned with a “Green Acid” flaming. Best performance of the weekend: 7.97s at 277 km/h! This promises for the next one!
