Immersion in the heart of Mayotte traditions in “Mila”, the new daily series from Mayotte La 1ère

New ! From today daily from 8:00 p.m., discover on Mayotte La 1ère, “Mila”, the new series from the Mahoran public channel. Follow Mila's story, a poignant quest between cultural heritage and family revelations, in a new series that promises to captivate and move.

Originally from Island, Mila, 23, is embarking on an initiatory journey to Mayotte, the cradle of the traditions of her mother, Samawya. Although the latter passed on to her the cultural richness of her childhood through passionate stories, she always avoided talking about a painful past, marked by a polygamous father who remained in Mayotte.

For Mila, who only visited the island once at the age of thirteen, this trip represents much more than a simple university stopover: it is an opportunity to discover traditions and social values that she only knew through hearsay.

On site, Mila is confronted with a world that mixes modernity and ancestral customs. His university project quickly becomes a pretext for a deep personal quest. As she explores matriarchal Mahoran society, she finds herself facing long-unanswered questions about her origins and the absent father figure of her childhood.

It was during her stay that she met Anil, a young man with piercing eyes and progressive ideas, who awakened unexpected emotions in her and guided her in her discovery of Mayotte. With his help, Mila learns to navigate between unsaid family matters, the complexity of intergenerational relationships and her own aspirations.

This transformative journey leads her to reevaluate not only her perception of her father and her mother's history, but also her view of love and the future. Between cultural discoveries, intense emotions and family revelations, Mila finds herself facing herself, ready to confront the duality of her roots and chart her own path.

The new series “Mila” can be discovered today, from Monday to Friday 8:00 p.m. on Mayotte La 1ère.
