– Hautes-Alpes –
The big day has arrived for sailing enthusiasts and residents of the Hautes-Alpes: the Vendée Globe 2024 takes off today at 1:02 p.m., with two local skippers ready to take on the challenge. Romain Attanasio, who spent his childhood in Vars, is setting off for his third participation in this legendary race. After an honorable performance in 2020, where he finished 14th, this year he aims to climb into the top 10. At his side, Briançonnais Damien Seguin, who impressed during his first Vendée Globe in 2020 with a 7th place, is ready to push his limits aboard his new foiler. With renewed determination and new sporting ambitions, he aspires to surpass himself and leave his mark on this edition. The start of the race, considered one of the toughest and most prestigious in the world, marks the start of a solo adventure where endurance and courage will be the key words. The two high-Alpine skippers bring with them the support of an entire department.
