The Cahors Rugby barometer is more positive than ever. The players of coaches Vincent Debaye and Fabrice Vignals added a new chapter to their flawless start to the season this Saturday evening by securing their seventh success in as many matches against Decazeville.
Faced with an Aveyron team which also had a good start to the season since it had four wins in a row, this new meeting at Desprats looked like a new test match for the Cadurcians. Author of a very successful first period with four tries to the delight of the numerous public present this Saturday at Desprats, the Cadurcian team had already provided the essentials at the break where the table showed a score of 24 to 0 in favor of “sky and white”.
The second act saw a Decazevilloise reaction and if the Cadurcians offered big defensive sequences the visitors twice found the path to the goal depriving the Cadurcian team of the offensive bonus at the end of the match. But the outcome of the evening remains largely positive with a seventh victory in a row in seven days and a leadership position in pool 7 reinforced before heading to Lormont next Sunday for another big test. Other good news of the evening, the great victory of the junior team, winning 52 to 7.

“A benchmark first half”

Vincent Debaye, co-coach of Cahors Rugby: “Our first half on Saturday evening was our best half since the start of the season, the most successful. This means that we continue to progress. In the second half, where we showed all our defensive qualities, particularly during the first quarter of an hour of the second half where we had a big defensive sequence, we fell into a false rhythm. At the end of the match we find ourselves two meters from their line and we have the opportunity to definitively validate the bonus and we take a 100-meter try against a great Decazeville team who didn't give up.
In the end, the positive largely outweighs it, when we see what we achieve in the first half. We played seven matches, we won seven. The group is doing well and you can feel it on the pitch. We must continue to progress and maintain our level of demands, but all the indicators are green. Hats off also to the junior team who had a great match with a great victory 52 to 7.”
Benjamin Hahn, pillar of Cahors: “We had a first reference period at the level of the one we achieved against Belvès. We offered great rugby on the offensive level but also a strong defense. The group lives well and plays uninhibited. Management at the end of the camp was less calm in the second half but we remain positive with this seventh victory in seven games. Now big challenges await us against the big teams in the group and in particular from Saturday against a team from Lormont who will be revengeful after their defeat on Saturday.”
