It is a project started in 2019 and left abandoned for more than 3 years. In Dammartin-en-Goële, on the D404, an imposing concrete block in poor condition attracts attention. This construction is that of Alila group which started in 2019 and was never finished.
Issue, dozens of people had bought what should have been their future home or an apartment to rent. Worse still, the Lyon real estate group has just been placed in liquidation, leaving buyers in complete limbo. “I don’t know if it’s good or bad news, with Alila, the building was never going to be completed anyway,” says one of the buyers. Despite everything, for everyone, the question is now simple, what will happen?
A reception planned for December 2020
Everyone should have moved into this building years ago, December 2020 to be more precise. Some wanted to rent an apartment, others wanted to live in one of these 42 accommodations. “But since May 2022, nothing, no one on the site. It is abandoned. I put my savings into it,” says Jérôme Lainé, one of the many buyers.
Each buyer had to pay 65% of the cost of your accommodation to reserve it. “I paid around €100,000 for my apartment which is worth €165,000,” explains Jérôme Lainé. For others, this amount is even higher.
“For my part, the objective was to rent it out to ensure our retirement, my wife and I not having large salaries. Problem with this situation, we find ourselves paying the credit of our house, plus that of this apartment. After a while, it could be very complicated financially », Adds another buyer.
In poor condition
For all these years, the building is greenmold and infiltration have accumulated over time. “We can clearly see that the interior is degraded, the humidity is increasing. Some tiles are broken, the premises are squatted, litter is accumulating. The land serves as a landfill. Since the roof is not finished, water seeps. The walls are turning green, the building is decaying,” explained Jérôme Lainé last February.
Today, and given the lamentable state of the building, “if, and I don't believe it at all, the construction site was resumed, almost everything would have to be started from scratch », continues the person concerned.
“We don’t lose hope”
“Currently, we do not have no newsno communication and this despite the liquidation of Alila”, regrets Jérôme Lainé, before continuing: “it would have been the least we could do to tell us clearly: “the project will never be finished”, but nothing there. » Same story from another buyer: “We have no information, we are in the unknown. »
Faced with this situation, buyers are trying to mobilize. Today, some of them got together and formed a group. “There are around ten buyers who have hired a lawyer, we are going to go to court hoping not to have lost everything. »
Because despite everything, everyone maintains a tiny hope of seeing the situation evolve. “During the purchase, the notary told us that there was a guarantormaybe before long, he will come forward and try to restart construction even if it will take years.” “Perhaps there will be a new buyer and the construction site will resume, perhaps also we will win in court.t be reimbursed in part or in full of our investment,” adds Jérôme Lainé.
In any case, “we want things to move forward, we want to finally move on to something else », conclude the two buyers contacted.
Contacted, the Alila company did not respond to our requests
