On Sunday November 10, the forty skippers competing in the Vendée Globe, the famous solo round-the-world race, will set off from Les Sables-d'Olonne. Among them, the navigator Boris Herrmann, who will sail aboard the IMOCA Team Malizia, “The Explorer of the Seas”. This 60-foot – 18.28 m – monohull sailboat, entered under the colors of the Yacht Club of Monaco, received a prestigious visit this Saturday, November 9: none other than Prince Albert II in person, accompanied by his nephew, the attractive Pierre Casiraghi, who we will perhaps find one day at the start of the race. Accompanied by Boris Herrmann, both sailing enthusiasts came on board, as we can discover in a video published this Saturday, November 9 on the Palais' Instagram account.
This publication allows you to see the husband of the divine Beatrice Borromeo and the husband of Princess Charlene, herself a sports enthusiast, visit the impressive racing boat specially designed for the Vendée Globe 2024. Passionate about discovering the equipment of this latest generation monohull, launched in 2022, Prince Albert II and Pierre Casiraghi gave their full support to Boris Herrmann, with contagious good humor. Both also left a little souvenir for the talented skipper – hoping that it brings him luck… However, whatever the result of the competition, Team Malizia cannot fail in its mission. Indeed, Boris Herrmann will not just try to race in the lead during this 2024 Vendée Globe…

Prince Albert II: committed to the defense of the oceans
As specified in the Palais' Instagram publication, during the race, Team Malizia will collect “scientific data in collaboration with the Prince Albert II Foundation”while raising public awareness about the protection of the oceans – a commitment dear to the heart of the Sovereign of the Rock. On Friday, November 8, Prince Albert of Monaco signed a partnership agreement with the Vendée Globe Foundation with the aim of joining forces to better protect the oceans, as we also learn from the Palace in story. The father of the adorable Jacques and Gabriella took advantage of this trip to Sables-d'Olonne to visit the Vendée Globe village, taking particular interest in its sustainability objectives.
