Only a few days ago, a cold drop landed in Spain, causing deadly floods and colossal damage. Unfortunately, after an anticyclonic lull, a new depression is expected towards these regions from Tuesday, causing a risk of new heavily rainy storms in the Mediterranean regions.
A new large-scale unstable situation for the Mediterranean
The European (large-scale) synoptic situation is now subject to the numerous anticyclonic systems which have governed the weather in France for a good week now. These high pressures are particularly increasing between the British Isles and Central Europe, where the situation remains calm with many low clouds and fog during the day.

France is largely influenced by these anticyclones with calm weather, except in the far south, still experiencing instability around the Gulf of Lion this weekend, hence our current special press release.
Spain under surveillance again
When this cold drop plunges into the Mediterranean, it will affect the east and south of France from Tuesday with a few showers under an autumnal coolness. These showers will also allow our massifs to harvest the first snow of the season, even if the quantities should remain low.
It is when this cold drop plunges into the Mediterranean that the situation will need to be monitored. Thus, it will pass over sea waters that are still very fresh, bringing a lot of humidity into the air mass with instability. If the situation is still difficult to predict, it seems that a new period of instability is to be feared on the Iberian Peninsula with a possible spillover towards the south-east of France.
This situation must therefore be monitored, especially as the soils are saturated and repair and cleaning work is still underway in Spain.
